Azerbaijan Automobile Dealers Association has developed proposals for the development of the car market in the country.
This was stated by a member of the Association Emil Ismayilov, speaking at a conference on "The tax system in the postpandemic period."
According to him, the restrictions imposed in connection with the pandemic have aggravated the situation in the official car market and seriously damaged the activities of official car dealers.
"Imports of used cars with a service life of more than 10 years happen due to the low purchasing power of citizens and the lack of incentives for the sale of new cars. As a result, environmentally harmful and low-quality cars are imported into the country. "The Association has prepared some proposals to achieve dynamic development of the country's automotive sector, increase sales, increase taxes to the budget, preserve jobs and actively participate in the life of the country and society as a whole," Ismayilov said.
Among the proposals, the most important one for a member of the association would be the provision of privileges and discounts for new cars, as well as easing the conditions for import.
"Obviously, this will lead to an increase in imports and sales of cars, as well as the collection of duties to the budget, the renewal of the car fleet in the country, the improvement of environmental and traffic safety. Another important issue is incentives and benefits for imports of environmentally friendly cars. "It is about the application of privileges in the import and sale of electric and hybrid cars," Ismayilov said.
The proposals also promote the formation of a civilized second-hand car market in the country. Thus, according to Ismayilov, now official dealers have to add VAT when reselling cars received from the population, which reduces competitiveness compared to the "black market": "The proposal is to use the experience of other neighboring countries. and finally, the availability of new cars and the promotion of new credit and leasing opportunities.
