The car fleet in Azerbaijan continues to rapidly fill older vehicles. In 2015, 93.4% of cars sold in the country were new cars, while in 2019 this number decreased to 29.6%. Which means, interest in old cars has grown sharply. The artificial demand for used cars allows auctioned cars imported from the United States, South Korea, Germany and other countries to find their way to the Azerbaijani market. This has led to a number of complications. Eyyub Aliyev, a representative of the Azerbaijan Automobile Dealers Association (AADA) and an expert on the car market, also spoke to MediaPost about the main factors affecting the obsolescence of the car fleet in the country and its consequences.
