Definitely, one of the worst side-effects of the coronavirus pandemic, which has caused serious damage to the world economy, falls on the automotive business. This idea was repeatedly voiced at today's video conference of the Azerbaijan Automobile Dealers Association (AADA). In their speeches, the heads of the official car importers participating in the conference stressed that the peculiarity of this business is that orders are sent to manufacturers at least three to four months in advance. Which means no business plan could predict a special quarantine regime and the closure of car showrooms. It turns out that if the sales figures are down to zero, the importer must allocate a large amount of money for the customs costs of cars entering the country. In the current situation, these costs will bring many dealer companies closer to bankruptcy. It was noted at the conference that the government needs decisions to support the automotive sector. Otherwise, the closure of official dealerships, the reduction of taxes to the budget, the loss of jobs, and ultimately the increase in imports and sales of used cars, and the rise of environmental and safety problems are inevitable.
Taking all this into account, the participants of the video conference decided to address an appeal to the relevant government agencies on behalf of AADA. A working group was set up to prepare a package of proposals.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijan Automobile Dealers Association Public Union was registered in the Ministry of Justice in 2004 One of the main tasks of the union is to coordinate the activities of official car importers and dealers, to act as a bridge between representatives of the car business and government agencies.
