AADA and Teleradio held a meeting

Last week, AADA Chairman N.Zarbaliyev and head of the union's PR and communications department R.Musayev met at the Teleradio PU at the invitation of Mikayil Abbasov, technical director of the Teleradio Production Association of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies. During the meeting, the management of Teleradio PU appealed to AADA to educate car dealers and car users about the DAB+ radio broadcast in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula. During the conversation, the advantages of digital radio broadcasting were emphasized. It was noted that the multimedia systems of modern cars are able to receive DAB+ radio broadcasting, but because the software requires a small
additional cost, car buyers refuse this option, and are satisfied with an analog radio receiver. Car dealers, who are already facing difficulties due to high duties and excises, in turn, are not interested in increasing the selling price of the car, so they do not insist on this offer. The
participants of the meeting came to the conclusion that the positive aspects of digital radio should be instilled in consumers primarily through the placement of educational information in the media. First of all, there must be a demand for supply. The parties noted with regret that it is unlikely that DAB+ radio broadcasting will become popular in the near future, as more than 70 percent of the country's car fleet consists of cars older than 10 years. However, as the number of modern cars increases, so does the demand for digital radio.

At the end of the meeting, it was agreed that AADA will work to investigate the current situation with DAB+ in Azerbaijan and will assist Teleradio to obtain information by analyzing the needs of both dealers and users for DAB+ radio. Teleradio PU, in turn, will provide information and financial support in the preparation and dissemination of educational materials necessary for the promotion of DAB+ radio broadcasting.

Note 1: The database of the WorldDAB Forum, the world's most influential DAB standard digital radio broadcasting organization operating in the European Broadcasting Union in Geneva, contains information on the launch of DAB+ standard digital radio broadcasting in Azerbaijan. Thus, the list of leading European countries and the names of only 27 countries also includes Azerbaijan.

Note 2: The main advantages of digital radio broadcasting:
- More efficient use of radio frequency spectrum;
- More reliable reception of the radio signal;
- Ability to transmit information in a frequency band in the form of video, graphics and text;
- Ability to broadcast in single-network (SFN) mode;
- Regardless of the speed of the moving object (car, train, etc.) where the receiver is located (no Doppler effect), the possibility of reliable reception at any point in the coverage of the radio signal (no interference), etc.
